Men’s Basketball to Host Hofstra in NIT

Colonials will play Wednesday in first-round game.

The George Washington men's basketball team will face Hofstra in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) on Wednesday at the Charles E. Smith Center.

The Colonials (23-10) and the Pride (24-9) tip off at 8 p.m. The game will be aired live on ESPN3. GW is the No. 4 seed in the Monmouth Quadrant of the NIT bracket. Hofstra is the No. 5 seed. The winner advances to face either Monmouth or Bucknell.

GW reached the 20-win plateau for the third straight season in 2015-16, and is making its third straight appearance in a postseason tournament after qualifying for the NCAA tournament in 2014 and the NIT last season. The Colonials were a No. 5 seed in last year's NIT and beat Pittsburgh in the first round before falling at No. 1 seed Temple.

Hofstra, the co-Colonial Athletic Association regular-season champion, lost to North Carolina-Wilmington in overtime of the CAA title game last week.

Upper-level reserved tickets are $10 and lower-level reserved are $15. The Colonial Army will provide complimentary tickets to all GW students who show a valid GWorld Card.
