Lisner Auditorium Presents Annual Flamenco Festival

The signature program kicked off last night with Gala Flamenca.

George Washington University Lisner Auditorium launched its annual Flamenco Festival last night with Gala Flamenca, a performance starring dancers Antonio Canales, Carlos Rodriguez, Karime Amaya and Jesús Carmona. The festival features four dance concerts sponsored by Jaleo by José Andrés.

Three performances will follow in the signature series: Eva Yerbabuena, known for her poetry-inspired moves, will perform "Lluvia" on March 7 at 8 p.m. at Lisner Auditorium. Guitarist and Latin Grammy Award winner Tomatito Sextet will team up with young musicians for a concert on March 18 at 8 p.m. at Lisner Auditorium. On March 18 at 9 p.m., flamenco star Estrella Morente, who contributed to the soundtrack for Pedro Almodóvar’s "Volver" film, will take the stage at the Music Center at Strathmore.
