IT Support Expanded

August 29, 2011

This semester the university community can receive IT support around the clock.

The IT Support Center, which opened over the summer, provides a wide range of general technology support to faculty, staff and students.

GW community members can contact the support center for assistance with managing their GW accounts, hardware troubleshooting and support, and enterprise application management.

“The IT Support Center provides a 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week ‘one-stop shop’ for technology support for the GW community,” said David Steinour, chief information officer. “It consolidates staff, faculty, student, alumni and affiliate technology support under one roof, while maintaining our current data center monitoring capabilities—all without additional resources.”

Students, faculty and staff will receive support similar to what they have received before with Student Technology Services and the Division of IT Help Desk, but they will now be able to receive it 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

The IT Support Center is a large-scale project that unifies services offered by the Division of IT Help Desk and Student Technology Services and included input from offices across the university, including the Division of External Relations, Human Resources and Gelman Library.

“This change in service offerings represents the Division of IT’s preparedness in adapting to meet the expanding need of the GW community,” said Mr. Steinour.

The IT Support Center, which is located on the Virginia Campus of Science and Technology, can be reached at 202-994-GWIT (4948) or at http://itsupport.gwu.edu.
