Our study abroad program partner in Cape Town, South Africa, has notified GW that one of our students traveling during a break in the program is missing. Junior Nicholas Upton has not been seen since swimming in the East Cape Province about 10:30 p.m. local time on Aug. 30. Local authorities in Cape Town are conducting a search and are coordinating with program representatives, his family and the U.S. Embassy. We are closely monitoring this situation and are in touch with his family. We continue to hope and pray for Nicholas’ safe return.
