Five members of the 2023-24 George Washington University swimming and diving teams are competing on the world stage this month. Three Revolutionaries—Ava Topolewski, Ava DeAngelis and Connor Rodgers—are competing at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials from June 15 to 23 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Two other GW Revs, Djurdje Matic (Serbia) and Toni Dragoja (Croatia), will swim for their home countries' national teams at the 2024 European Aquatics Championships, hosted in Matic's home city of Belgrade, Serbia, with competitive swimming from June 17-23.
U.S. Olympic Team Trials
The U.S. Olympic Team Trials is a nine-day event and coverage began Saturday on USA Network. Continuing coverage will air live on Peacock with same-day delayed coverage each day on USA Network. Coverage of every final will air live on NBC and Peacock each night of the trials.
Topolewski has the first of her two events, the 1500-meter freestyle, with prelims on June 18 and the final on June 19. Rodgers will then swim his lone event, the 200-meter individual medley, with prelims and semifinals set for June 20 and the final set for June 21. Topolewski will swim her second and final event, the 800-meter freestyle, with the prelims on June 21 and final on June 22. DeAngelis swims first in her lone event of the meet, the 100-meter butterfly, with prelims and semifinals scheduled for June 16 and the final scheduled for June 17.
European Aquatics Championships
The 2024 European Aquatics Championships began on June 10 and will continue through June 23, with competitive swimming beginning on June 17, hosted at Milan Gale Muškatirović. Matic and Dragoja will race a combined seven events, representing their native countries of Serbia and Croatia, respectively. They will each begin competition on June 17 when Matic swims the 50-meter butterfly and Dragoja takes part in the 4x200-meter freestyle relay. Matic continues his meet on June 19 with the 100-meter butterfly and will finish on June 23 in the 4x100-meter medley relay. Dragoja will swim the 100-meter freestyle on June 18 and continue his meet on June 20 with the 4x100-meter freestyle relay, before swimming his final event, the 50-meter freestyle, on June 22 to finish his time in Belgrade.
