GW Student Awarded Fogarty-Fulbright Public Health Award

Meredith Wells received a grant and will conduct research in Peru on a prevalent eye disease.

Meredith Wells, a third-year medical student at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, was awarded a prestigious Fogarty-Fulbright Public Health Award through the Fulbright Program and the Fogarty International Center at the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). 

The grant is offered to doctoral students to promote the expansion of clinical and public health research in areas with limited resources.

Wells will be pursuing a research project in Puno, Peru, working to elucidate the prevalence of preventable eye disease in a population of indigenous women with a research team from Johns Hopkins University.
