Philippe Aghion, a senior fellow with the George Washington Institute of Public Policy (GWIPP), has been awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in Economics. His research focuses on the economics of growth. Alongside his longtime collaborator Peter Howitt, Aghion pioneered the Schumpeterian Growth paradigm, which was subsequently used to analyze the design of growth policies and the role of the state in the growth process.
Aghion is an active senior fellow with GWIPP’s Competition and Innovation Lab, contributing his expertise to the university’s research and events. He is a professor at the College de France and a visiting professor at the London School of Economics.
