George Washington University’s Annual Security and Fire Safety Report for 2020 has been published and is now available to current and prospective GW students, faculty, staff and families. This report has been distributed pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.

The report contains information and statistics for crimes that occurred on campus (including on-campus residential facilities), in certain non-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by GW, and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible to, GW campuses for calendar years 2018, 2019 and 2020.

The report also includes campus security and personal safety topics such as crime prevention, fire safety, university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures and other information related to safety and security on GW campuses.

“The Annual Security Report is an important tool used to advise current and prospective faculty, staff and students of not only recent crime statistics, but also serves more broadly as a guide to GW's safety resources available to the university community," Division of Safety and Facilities Vice President Scott Burnotes said.

Electronic copies of the report can be viewed and/or downloaded online. The 2018 and 2019 versions of this report are also available on this site. You may request a copy to be mailed to you by calling (202) 994-2344. A physical copy of the report can also be obtained from the GW Police Department (GWPD) at 2145 G St. NW.

Additional information regarding safety tips, crime prevention information and access to the GWPD crime log is also available online. To sign up for emergency text messages or for additional information on emergency communication resources at GW, visit the Emergency Communications’ website
