In its current list of online program rankings, published in late January, U.S. News & World Report ranked the George Washington University highly in 19 program areas. GW was ranked 15th in best online bachelor’s programs overall, out of 359.
GW′s online programs are among more than 1,800 programs surveyed this year by U.S. News. In another impressive ranking, GW was ranked 8th in best online bachelor’s programs for veterans.
Currently, the most popular online bachelor’s degrees at GW are being awarded to students majoring in medical fields (diagnostic, intervention, treatment, etc.). Clinical laboratory science and medical technology attract large numbers of online students as well. Graduate engineering programs are also popular online, as are graduate programs in nursing, education and business. U.S. News ranks schools according to various recognized indicators of excellence.
GW Provost Christopher A. Bracey has previously spoken about the importance of offering students online degree and certification programs, and expressed his commitment to raising their profile at the university. He said he is pleased by the University’s showing in the current rankings.
“The strong rankings of our online programs are a testament to our continued focus on meeting the needs of our students and delivering a high-quality, transformational education wherever they are in their lives and careers,” Bracey said. “As we continue to relentlessly pursue excellence in teaching and research, online education will remain an essential element of our academic programming.”
