Daniel Terrell, a post-doctoral student at the George Washington University School of Nursing, has been named a Graduate Nursing Student Academy (GNSA) Emerging Leader. The national honor recognizes Terrell’s commitment to advancing health equity and advocating for marginalized communities, particularly within LGBTQ+ health.
Terrell is being recognized for his approach to leadership that is grounded in evidence-based research and human-centered care. Through his doctoral training, Terrell is working to address social determinants of health and influence policy change.
Terrell plans to focus his research on health disparities affecting sexual and gender minority populations, especially those related to substance use and mental health. He hopes to pursue a faculty role that integrates research, teaching, mentorship and policy advocacy.
