The George Washington University and Fortune will co-host a conversation with former U.S. Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson in an exclusive on-stage interview conducted by Fortune Managing Editor Andy Serwer. The discussion, to be held April 2 at Jack Morton Auditorium, will focus on the significant economic, political and environmental changes unfolding in China. Doors open at 4 p.m., and a reception will follow immediately after the conversation.

The event is free but tickets are required, and GW community members can register for tickets.

Mr. Serwer, Fortune’s top editor, will conduct the interview in front of an audience of GW students, faculty and staff as well as other invited guests. The interview will be the subject of an article to be published in Fortune and is also a prelude to the Fortune Global Forum, a major event to be held this June in Chengdu, China.

Mr. Paulson has extensive expertise on China business, government and nonprofit environmental sustainability issues. As treasury secretary, Mr. Paulson established the Strategic Economic Dialogue and played a central role in the creation of the Ten Year Energy and Environment Cooperation Framework.

More recently, he established the Paulson Institute, a non-partisan independent center at the University of Chicago to promote sustainable economic growth and a cleaner environment around the world. The institute is committed to the principle that today’s most pressing economic and environmental challenges can be solved only if leading countries work in complementary ways. Its initial focus is on the United States and China—the world’s largest economies, energy consumers and carbon emitters—whose cooperation is essential to addressing major economic and environmental challenges.
