GW students, faculty and staff will now be able to use new scheduling features to reserve meetings rooms, outdoor space and study rooms in the Marvin Center thanks to Events and Venues’ new website, which launched last week.
Registered student organizations can make online reservations for meeting rooms on the third and fourth floors of the Marvin Center. The new website allows students to check real-time availability of the meetings rooms. Once they make their reservations, the Events and Venues staff will confirm their reservation by sending the organization an email.
Registered university departments can reserve meetings rooms, outdoor spaces like University Yard and Kogan Plaza, major spaces like Columbian Square and the Grand Ballroom as well as other campus venues like the Jack Morton Auditorium and 1957 E Street’s City View Room by filling out an electronic request form on the new website. While registered student organizations can make a real-time online reservation for a meeting room, they need to fill out an electronic request form to reserve an outdoor space or major space. The electronic request forms replace the old paper forms.
“The new website is part of the goal to centralize all aspects of events and venues and better serve students, faculty, staff and external clients,” said Michael Peller, assistant vice president for events and venues. “These brand new features make requesting and reserving space more convenient and support the GW Office of Sustainability’s initiative of building a greener campus by reducing paper consumption.”
Any GW student, faculty or staff member can also make an online reservation with their GW e-mail for a study/meeting room on the ground floor of the Marvin Center. Renovations began last semester to transform part of the ground floor into two student lounges and eight meeting rooms of varying size. The website shows what rooms are available, and students, faculty and staff can reserve the rooms in two-hour blocks. These reservations do not require waiting for a confirmation from the Events and Venues’ staff.
Students, faculty and staff can use these spaces from 7 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Wednesday and from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday through Sunday.
“We hope that the new website improves the event scheduling and planning process for all users,” said Mr. Peller.
