As the calendar year has switched to 2015, so too has GW basketball's focus on a new beginning of its own with the start of Atlantic 10 Conference action for the GW men's and women's basketball teams.

Men's basketball wrapped non-conference play last week with a 10-3 record, tied for the most non-conference wins in the A-10, including a win over then #11 Wichita State in the championship game of the 2014 Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu late Christmas night. That victory ensured double-digit non-conference wins in consecutive seasons for the first time in program history.

In the team's A-10 road opener on national television on Saturday, the Colonials started conference play with a victory at St. Joseph's, 64-60.

On the women's side, the team concluded non-conference action on a nine-game winning streak, its longest since the 2007-08 season, and with an 11-2 record that matches the program's most-ever wins out of conference, and tops the A-10 this season.

Then, in a battle of the top two teams in the A-10 on Sunday, GW snapped Dayton's 31-game home winning streak - the longest home-winning streak in the country - also on national television to match the men's 1-0 start to 2015 and A-10 action.

To ring in the start of A-10 play at home this week, both programs are offering free tickets to faculty and staff to see the A-10 home openers. All faculty and staff members with a valid GWID can receive two complimentary tickets for either or both of the following match-ups:
