George Washington University alumnus Sam Gunter, M.P.P ’20, has been honored with the Roger F. Sherwood Article of the Year Award for his article, “Comparability Considerations for Cellular & Gene Therapy Products.” The award, established in 1993 by the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE), highlights the most exceptional contributions to the journal.

Gunter's article explores the rapidly growing field of cellular and gene therapy (CGT) products, which represent a groundbreaking class of medicines with the potential to treat and even cure previously untreatable diseases.

In the piece, Gunter and his co-authors provide critical considerations for evaluating the comparability of CGT products when changes are made to their manufacturing processes, a key concern in ensuring the safety, efficacy and consistency of these innovative therapies.
