GW Alumna Receives National Emerging Leadership Award

The award honors Annaliza Perez Torres’s early-career excellence in materials and process engineering.

George Washington University alumna Annaliza Perez Torres, D.Eng.’25, received the 2025 Young Professional Emerging Leadership Award (YPELA) from the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE). The award recognizes exceptional early-career professionals under the age of 35 who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and impact in the field of material and process engineering. The award was presented on May 22 at the SAMPE conference in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Perez Torres works as a materials and process engineer at Lockheed Martin. She recently received a doctoral degree in engineering management from the GW School of Engineering and Applied Science. Perez Torres is also a recipient of the 2024 Rising Technical Contributor Award from the Society of Women Engineers.
