George Washington Hosts First Veterans Awareness Week

Beginning today, George Washington’s Office of Veteran Services will host a variety of events on campus to raise community awareness of veterans and veterans’ issues for its first annual Veterans Awareness Week.

“Our connection with the military community at GW makes Veterans Day a special day for us to celebrate and honor those who have served our country, which is why we are celebrating Veterans Day with a full week of events,” said Mary Waring, outreach coordinator for George Washington’s Office of Veteran Services.

The week will conclude with the annual Veterans Day Ceremony and barbecue in Kogan Plaza, featuring remarks by President Steven Knapp and GW Vets President Scott Disney.

The week’s events include:

“Through these series of events, we hope to bring together the GW community to celebrate, bring awareness, and support all of our veterans on campus and in our community,” said Ms. Waring.
