Aman Luthra, an assistant professor of climate and environmental change in the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences (CCAS), received a CCAS Impact Award, which provides up to $3,000 for research and scholarly expenses.
Around the world, he wrote in his application for the award, socio-environmental change is threatening food security and farmers’ livelihoods, particularly for smallholder farmers. Existing research has pointed to climate change, land use and pollinator shortages as major factors underlying crop productivity failures.
Luthra’s research, according to the department’s Twitter account, aims to examine spatial variations in, and impact of, landscape structure and composition on pollinator diversity and abundance and the extent of pollination limitation in crop production.
