ESG Responsibility Task Force to Hold Community Forums

The first of three virtual forums will be at noon on Oct. 29.

October 25, 2021

Dear Members of the GW Community,

The Board of Trustees created the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Responsibility Task Force to establish a long-term, proactive approach to managing ESG responsibility. In 2020, the Task Force, with input from the community, made a series of environmentally-focused recommendations to the Board of Trustees, which were accepted. More details on the 2020 report are included on the Task Force's website.

In the summer of 2021, Board Chair Grace Speights charged the Task Force to continue its work with a renewed focus on social and governance priorities, and to develop a process by which future ESG issues can be addressed and evolved by the university community. Throughout the summer and fall of this year, the Task Force met to discuss these issues and develop an initial set of draft priorities for consideration.

While the Task Force is diverse, these issues are complex and require the input and feedback from the GW community at large. Thus, the Task Force will hold a series of community forums in the coming weeks to update the community and engage in a dialogue related to potential social and governance priorities and a suggested process for ongoing engagement and development.

The virtual forums are scheduled for:
