David Shambaugh, the Gaston Sigur professor of Asian studies, political science and international affairs and also the founding director of the China policy program at the Elliot School of International Affairs, will join the Hoover Institution as a distinguished visiting fellow.
Shambaugh’s appointment was effective on Feb. 1. He is an award-winning writer about contemporary China. His most recent works include International Relations of Asia (Rowman and Littlefield, third edition, 2022); China’s Leaders from Mao to Now (Polity, 2021); Where Great Powers Meet: America & China in Southeast Asia (Oxford University Press, 2021); and China & the World (Oxford University Press, 2020).
