The D.C. Chamber of Commerce awarded George Washington University its 2015 Economic Impact Award at the chamber’s annual Choice Awards and Gala Friday night at the Marriott Marquis hotel.

George Washington President Steven Knapp accepted the award, noting in a videotaped presentation that GW employs 12,000 people, has 26,000 students and additional 40,000 prospective students who visit the university each year with their parents and has 85,000 alumni who live in the D.C. area.

Dr. Knapp also said that GW last year totaled 655,000 service hours across the District, most of them logged by GW students.
