Allyson Vieira, an assistant professor of foundations at the Corcoran School of Art and Design and director of undergraduate studies for fine arts, has received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award to teach and conduct research in Greece during the 2024-2025 academic year.She will carry out artistic and pedagogical research on traditional hand marble carving at the Preparatory and Vocational School of Fine Arts of Panormos Tinos.
Vieira has exhibited widely, both internationally and in the United States, with institutional projects at Kunsthalle Basel, the Swiss Institute, Fall River MoCA and Storm King Art Center, among others.Her first book, “Allyson Vieira: The Plural Present,” was published in 2016 and presents a close look at her works. Her second book, “On the Rock: The Acropolis Interviews,” features in-depth discussions with Greek master marble carvers.
