Science Friday Live

An exoplanet where it rains sand. A giant vacuum tube for sucking migratory salmon safely over dams. Smart toilets that gather your health data (try not to think about how). These are just a few recent topics from Science Friday, a podcast and live radio show spotlighting the weird and wonderful world of scientific exploration and discovery.

On March 23, 2024, the program fans call “SciFri” will record a live performance at the George Washington University’s Lisner Auditorium. The two-hour program, hosted by Ira Flatow, typically features audience interactions, props, video presentations and live demonstrations. The performance is recorded and edited segments are rebroadcast on the Science Friday radio show.

As of Dec. 11, discounted tickets are available to GW students, faculty, postdocs and staff for $7. The performance is being sponsored by the Office of the Vice Provost for Research and presented in partnership with local public radio station WAMU.

“The GW community’s research credentials and wide-ranging intellectual curiosity make us a perfect host for Science Friday,” Vice Provost for Research Pamela Norris said. “At GW, we are training both the next generation of trailblazing researchers and the journalists and policymakers who will bring those research stories to life. This live event is an opportunity to watch scientific storytelling in action.”
