Friday, Oct. 16
Colonials Invasion
Doors open at 8 p.m., Charles E. Smith Center
Meet the 2015-16 men’s and women’s basketball teams and catch performances by Colonial Brass Pep Band, GW Bhangra, Capitol Funk and more at the annual spirit rally.
La Fiestasa
8 p.m., Marvin Center Continental Ballroom
Celebrate at this Latino Heritage Celebration event featuring food, performances and dancing with the GW Organization of Latino American Students. Tickets are $10 for OLAS members and $12 for non-members. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
Stairway to Paradise: A Gershwin Spectacular
8 p.m., Lisner Auditorium
Listen to Gershwin classics performed by the American Pops Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Luke Frazier. Tickets can be purchased at the Lisner Auditorium Box Office one hour before the show. Tickets range from $35 to $65. There is a $10 discount for students.

Colonials Weekend Welcome

GW students, parents and friends will receive a warm welcome from George Washington President Steven Knapp, Student Association President Andie Dowd, Parent Association Advisory Council President Robert Pagoni and Assistant Vice President of Parent Services Andy Sonn.
Gelman Library Open House and 3-D Printing Demonstrations
11 a.m., Estelle and Melvin Gelman Library
Learn about GW’s efforts to build a 21st-century library and view demonstrations of the new 3-D printing suite.
Highlights Tour of the George Washington Museum and The Textile Museum
1:30 p.m., the George Washington University and The Textile Museum
View collections of more than 19,000 objects spanning millennia and five continents at the GW Museum and The Textile Museum open house event.
The Vern Harvest
2 p.m., Mount Vernon Campus Quad
Yard games, pumpkin carving and arts and crafts, food and fun take center stage for this family-friendly celebration on the scenic Mount Vernon Campus.
Book Signing of “Finale: A Novel of the Reagan Years” with Author Thomas Mallon

Esteemed author and GW Professor of English Thomas Mallon will discuss his latest work with the GW community.
Acapellapalooza

Enjoy the varied musical performances of GW premier a capella groups, the Troubadours, the MotherFunkers, the Vibes, the Pitches, the Sirens, the Voice Gospel Choir and the Sons of Pitch for a fundraiser benefitting Miriam’s Kitchen. Tickets are $10 for non-GW students and $5 for students.

Colonials Weekend Jazz Brunch
9:30 a.m., Marvin Center Columbian Square
GW’s student-run radio station WRGW hosts the annual brunch featuring live music performed by GW faculty and students. Tickets are $19.95 for adults and $12.95 for children 12 and under. RSVP to parents

13th Annual Foggy Bottom West End Neighborhood Block Party
1 p.m., I St. Mall between 22nd and 23rd streets NW
The outdoor fair, hosted by community group FRIENDS, brings together more than 100 local businesses, restaurants, groups and institutions.
