George Washington University students now will have expanded access to mental health counseling and medical services on the weekends.

The Colonial Health Center announced that there are new weekend hours for urgent care and counseling at both the Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon campuses. The center will offer these services from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays on Foggy Bottom at the Colonial Health Center on the ground floor of the Marvin Center, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays at the new Mount Vernon Campus health center on the ground floor of Merriweather Hall.

The extended hours are part of a larger GW initiative to make mental health counseling and urgent care more accessible for students who may need to utilize these services outside of traditional business hours. It will also give students access to care seven days a week.

Cissy Petty, vice president of student affairs and dean of students, said she is grateful to S.J. Matthews, GW Student Association president, and Mark Diaz, GW’s executive vice president and CFO, for their leadership and guidance on these changes.

“Our team at the Colonial Health Center is dedicated to providing students with the health and wellness resources necessary for their personal growth and well-being,” Dr. Petty said.
