The university is asking its students, alumni, staff and fans to wear Buff and Blue—wherever they are— on Sept. 2 to show their support for the Colonials.
GW President Steven Knapp recently signed a presidential proclamation announcing Sept. 2 as College Colors Day at GW.
Created in 2005, College Colors Day is an annual celebration dedicated to promoting college traditions and spirit by encouraging fans, alumni and students to wear apparel of their favorite university throughout the day.
“College Colors Day is an opportunity for the entire GW community – students, faculty, staff and alumni – to show their Colonials spirit by wearing their favorite GW merchandise,” said Nikki Rappaport of GW’s Office of Licensing and Trademarks. “We're so glad to have President Knapp’s support on this university-wide unifying initiative by officially declaring September 2 College Colors Day at GW.”
GW will celebrate with giveaways and free food from local vendors like Pinkberry and Kababji Grill before GW volleyball’s first match against University of North Carolina Wilmington at 7 p.m. in the Charles E. Smith Center. The first 200 fans will receive free GW wristbands.
Everyone is encouraged to show off their College Colors Day photos by sharing them on Twitter to @GWGeorge or on Facebook at Facebook.com/GWSports.
College Colors Day is organized by The Collegiate Licensing Company. For more information on College Colors Day 2011, visit www.collegecolorsday.com.
