Gianna Ramirez, a graduate student studying speech-language pathology at the George Washington University, was awarded the American Speech Language Hearing Association’s Students Preparing for Academic-Research Careers (SPARC) Award.

The award prepares students for careers in research and teaching. Recipients get a chance to participate in teaching and research with guidance from a mentor, as well as travel opportunities to enhance teaching and research exposure.

Before attending GW, Ramirez graduated from the University of California Davis with a bachelor's degree in human development and has experience working in early childhood education.
