New students gathered in Potomac Square for a candle lighting ceremony hosted by the Division for Student Affairs’ Center for Interfaith and Spiritual Life. As they took their candles, students sparked new connections and set intentions for the year ahead. President Ellen M. Granberg, Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Colette Coleman and University Chaplain Kristen Glass Perez gave remarks to welcome the participants to begin their lives at GW rooted in community.
Food trucks and music rounded out the event which serves as the opening “bookend” in a series of traditions hosted by CISL that concludes with the Interfaith Baccalaureate ceremony at the end of our students’ academic journeys.
