Jesse J. Holland, the associate director and an associate professor at the School of Media and Public Affairs for the George Washington University, is the editor of the much anticipated “Captain America: The Shield of Sam Wilson.” The anthology features stories by celebrated Black writers and tells the story of Sam Wilson’s journey as the first Black Captain America. The book explores themes of courage, identity and the weight of representation.
Holland is an award-winning journalist and the author of the first novel featuring comics’ most popular black superhero, The Black Panther. He is currently serving as the Distinguished Visiting Scholar in Residence at the John W. Kluge Center of the Library of Congress. He is a former Race and Ethnicity writer for The Associated Press, having been recognized as one of the few reporters to be credentialed to cover all three branches of the American government during his career: the White House, the Supreme Court and Congress.
