GW’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents...

...The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek, by Naomi Wallace and directed by Jodi Kanter.

The play is set in small town America, 1936.  In an effort to change their prospects in life, two teenagers, Dalton Chance and Pace Creagan, plot a race against the 7:10 train. Meanwhile, Dalton’s parents, Gin and Dray, confront the more diffuse but equally cataclysmic potential of the Great Depression as it hurtles through their lives and marriage.  As the play moves back and forth in time between past and present, TRESTLE suspends its characters over a tragic, romantic, and unexpectedly ecstatic landscape.

Jodi Kanter’s work focuses on strengthening communities through adaptation and performance. To this end, she has created workshops, events and productions in a wide variety of settings, including theaters, hospices, prisons, cultural centers, libraries, galleries, schools and other public spaces. Locally, she has created performance projects for the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the Accoceek Foundation, Children’s National Hospital, and the GW Medical School.
