Floral Beauty from an Urban Landscape

Some of the many things that make GW home are the student run GroW Garden across from Amsterdam Hall and the edible landscaping done by Facilities Services. In addition to promoting sustainability, the GroW Garden allows students to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and focus their energy on something other than academia. Throughout the year, crops harvested from the GroW Garden also are given back to the community to help feed the local homeless.

In addition to what students grow in the GroW Garden, Facilities Services annually plants basil and sweet peppers in the plant beds outside of many academic and residential buildings on campus. Not only are these plants edible, but they also are purposefully clipped and shared with the GW community. -  By Zach Marin
