Thanks to gifts from 9,083 alumni, GW has surpassed the alumni donor challenge and will receive a $100,000 gift to the Power & Promise Fund for student aid.

Every year, thousands of GW alumni make annual gifts of all sizes to areas across the university, from the Power & Promise Fund for student aid to schools and academic departments to athletics and student organizations. Gifts of any size can make a real difference: Last year gifts of $100 and less totaled almost $1 million.

This month, alumni gifts can have an even greater impact. An anonymous alumni donor has issued GW a $100,000 all or nothing challenge: If 9,000 alumni contribute by Dec. 31, he will make a gift of $100,000 to the Power & Promise Fund for student aid.

“This challenge underscores the importance of both annual giving and alumni participation,” says Rebecca Trump, director of annual giving. “Alumni gifts are a vote of confidence in GW. The more alumni who give each year, the brighter GW’s future. This challenge is a unique opportunity for alumni to leverage a gift of any size to ensure $100,000 in scholarship support.”
