Presale Tickets Available for Men’s Basketball Game vs. Virginia

Departments, schools and organizations may purchase tickets in advance of general public.

George Washington University departments, schools and organizations are being provided a special presale period to purchase tickets for a highly anticipated Nov. 16 men’s basketball game between GW and the University of Virginia.


Tip-off Marathon

When: Monday, Nov. 16, 7:30 p.m.
Where: Charles E. Smith Center
Tickets: GW Athletics Ticket Office
TV: ESPN2


The timeframe, announced and beginning Wednesday, will end at 5 p.m. Sept. 30. Ticket prices will range from $40-$100. Seat locations will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the Department of Athletics and Recreation. Tickets may be purchased through the GW Athletics Ticket Office by contacting Sean Phelan, director of ticket sales, at 202-994-4912 or [email protected].

Departmental transactions may be made by P-Card or journal entry at the time of purchase. All sales are final, and no refunds will be issued.

The game begins at 7:30 p.m. as the opener of ESPN’s annual Tip-Off Marathon. It is an anticipated sellout, and the Department of Athletics and Recreation recommends purchasing tickets during the internal presale period.

The Colonials, who finished 22-13 last season and reached the second round of the National Invitation Tournament, are seeking their third straight 20-win season under fifth-year head coach Mike Lonergan. GW is 26-3 at home the last two seasons. Virginia is coming off back-to-back 30-win seasons and NCAA tournament berths under head coach Tony Bennett.
