The George Washington University and the GW Alumni Association (GWAA) welcomed four new members to the GWAA Executive Committee this month. Jennifer Franco Dias, Wyn Dobbs, Maley Hunt and Artie Lanier Polk will begin their two-year initial terms alongside new GWAA President Christine Brown-Quinn, M.B.A. ’92.

Jennifer Franco Dias, B.B.A. ’15, is a vice president at J.P. Morgan Chase, where she is part of the prime finance sales team covering hedge fund clients. She graduated from GW with a concentration in finance and was a member of the varsity lacrosse team, the University Honors Program and the Real Estate and Finance Alliance. She remains an active member of the athletics and women’s lacrosse community and serves on the Real Estate and Finance Alliance alumni council. She has worked for J.P. Morgan in both New York and London over the course of her career.

Wyn Dobbs, B.A. ’18, is an M.D. student on the global health track in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences. As an undergraduate, he complemented his international affairs degree with a concentration in public health and a minor in chemistry, in addition to his premedical requirements. In addition to his medical studies, Mr. Dobbs has helped lead the university’s annual HIV summit, volunteered at GW’s Healing Clinic providing free medical care to communities in need, spent a summer working at a hospital in Colombia, worked on GW’s Moderna COVID-19 vaccine trial and is currently a senior research assistant and project manager for a separate COVID-related research project at GW. Between his third and fourth years of medical school, he is pursuing an M.P.H. at Johns Hopkins University.

Maley Hunt, B.A. ’13, M.H.A. ’16, is chief operating officer and administrator at LiveWell in Southington, Conn. She also is an active member of several professional associations and has presented at national conferences for LeadingAge on lean applications in long term care and for the American College of Health Care Administrators on nursing home administrator burnout. She was captain of the GW women’s rowing team in the 2012-13 season and, throughout her six years on campus, worked at the Lerner Health and Wellness Center in many roles. Since graduating she has stayed involved in the Connecticut chapter of the GWAA, is a member of the Luther Rice Society and serves as a mentor and fellowship preceptor to current GW MHA students.

Artie Lanier Polk, M.E.A. ’79, is an ordained Baptist minister who currently serves as executive pastor and assistant pastor for men’s ministry and grief recovery ministry in the Mount Gilead Baptist Church of Washington, D.C. Additionally, Dr. Polk serves as first vice president of the Congress of Christian Education, National Capital Baptist Convention of DC and Vicinity. He retired from the U. S. Army as a lieutenant colonel, having served 12 years on active duty in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and the remainder of his Army career in civil affairs in the Army Reserves. In 2018, he established the Dr. Artie L. Polk Scholarship in Engineering at the School of Engineering and Applied Science.

All GW graduates and former students who completed at least 15 credit hours and left the university in good standing are members of the GW Alumni Association. Membership is granted automatically; there are no membership dues and no registration is required. Instead, alumni are encouraged to support GW’s critical and strategic needs across campus.
