Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Ron Chernow will visit the George Washington University Feb. 20 as the first in the Presidential Distinguished Event Series, a new initiative that will connect GW students with complimentary tickets to hear from renowned speakers and performers.
Mr. Chernow, who will host the 2019 White House Correspondents’ Dinner on April 27, will discuss his life, his process and the journey from writing presidential biographies to inspiring Lin-Manuel Miranda’s blockbuster musical, “Hamilton.”
Following the conversation, GW alumna and historian Lindsay Chervinsky will moderate a Q & A with students.
This event is free for all GW students, but an RSVP is required. Beginning Tuesday, Jan. 29, students can RSVP early to receive prime seating and a complimentary copy of Mr. Chernow’s “Alexander Hamilton” with their ticket. General admission tickets will become available in early February.
The Presidential Distinguished Event Series is one of several initiatives launched based on feedback from students, who told President Thomas LeBlanc during his first year at GW that they wanted access to more free, high-profile on-campus events. It adds to other recently announced efforts such as District Connections across the university that aim to improve the student experience. Additional series events will be announced as they are confirmed.
