Gathering Honors César Chávez

The George Washington University Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service recently honored the life, work and values of César Chávez with a unique community event at the Marvin Center.

Mr. Chávez, a union leader and labor organizer, is best remembered for his efforts to improve treatment, pay and working conditions for farm workers. To that end, he founded the National Farm Workers Association, which later became the United Farm Workers.

The event offered information tables, speakers and an opportunity to celebrate Mr. Chávez's commitment to social justice issues.
