Stress levels tend to rise during the end of the semester as students buckle down to study for finals, but if you head to the George Washington University Mount Vernon Campus on May 4 at 11 p.m., you’ll find students lined up outside the library for the annual “Eckles Late Night.”

The premise of the event is simple: The staff of the Eckles Library provides bread, peanut butter and jelly, and the students make and eat sandwiches together.

“The students are usually lined up about 30 minutes before the event starts,” Associate Provost for the Mount Vernon Campus Rachelle Heller said. “I don’t know what is so special about peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, but the event is a favorite among the students.”

“Eckles Late Night” is just one of many end-of-semester stress relief events hosted on the campus each spring that get students away from their desks for a range of activities including yoga or a casual Frisbee game on the quad.

With less than a month until Commencement, there are plenty of upcoming events on the roster. George Washington Today compiled a list of “stress-buster” events below that you don’t want to miss.
