The George Washington University will host the chairman of the Republican National Committee at Jack Morton Auditorium on Oct. 2, a little more than a month before the 2014 midterm elections.

Reince Priebus, who has served as chairman of the RNC since 2011, will discuss how the Republican Party is positioning itself for the Nov. 4 elections and participate in a question-and-answer session moderated by Lara Brown, political management program director and associate professor in the Graduate School of Political Management.

GSPM Director Mark Kennedy will provide welcoming remarks at the event, which is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

“With November's midterm elections just around the corner, hearing from RNC Chairman Priebus will be a fantastic opportunity for our students and the entire GW community,” said Mr. Kennedy, who served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2001 to 2007. “We pride ourselves on giving students an education in politics from professionals that are ‘in the arena’ from all political persuasions. This is a great chance to learn how politics works on a national level.”

Mr. Priebus, who previously served as RNC general counsel, currently is in his second term as chairman. Tickets to the event are free and registration is open to the public. Doors open at 8:30 a.m.
