The George Washington University Counseling Center will continue providing additional hours to support members of the university community in coping with the deaths of two students reported last week.

Counselors will be on site at Eckles Library on the Mount Vernon Campus to assist students through mid-May. Students should check the UCC website for updates regarding office hours.

Throughout the past week, staff from the Division of Student Affairs, residence halls and Academic Affairs has reached out directly to affected students and groups. They will continue to offer their assistance through one-on-one and small group meetings.

Members of the university community are encouraged to pursue support services in light of the recent tragedies. An appointment is not required to speak with a counselor. Additional information is available at the Division of Student Affairs' website.

Student Affairs will also be available to refer students to counseling services through university departments and off-site resources.

The UCC, located in Suite 330 at 2033 K St., will continue to operate during normal business hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Those who require assistance beyond working hours can speak with a counselor by calling the 24-hour hotline at 202-994-5300 and following the automated menu.

Faculty and staff who wish to consult with a UCC staff member to discuss concerns about a student should call during business hours and fill out a CARE form.
