By now you may have read Provost Lerman’s announcement that Professor Chris Kayes has agreed to serve as interim dean of the School of Business while we conduct a national search for the next permanent dean. I write to offer Dean Kayes my and the University’s full support during this period of transition.
In the past few days, questions have been raised regarding the University’s commitment to the School of Business. I want to give you my personal assurance that there has been no reduction whatsoever in the University’s commitment. I regard the School of Business as central to the implementation of the strategic plan adopted by the Board of Trustees to guide this University through the final decade of its second century, and my administration and I will continue to do everything in our power to ensure that the School continues to grow, for the benefit of its students and the contribution we know they will make to this nation and the world.
