Honoring 9/11 at GW

George Washington University President Steven Knapp and other members of the GW community gathered at Kogan Plaza Friday morning for the 9/11 Remembrance and Wreath Laying Ceremony honoring the memory of the nine university alumni and others who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Members of the George Washington Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) Ceremonial Color Guard presented the American flag during the ceremony. Millicent Scarlett, a lecturer in the Department of Music, sang the National Anthem.

Also in attendance were Aristide Collins Jr., vice president for development and alumni relations, Vice Admiral Mel Williams Jr., USN (Ret.), associate provost for military and veterans’ affairs and Andie Dowd, president of the GW Student Association.
