The Future of Real Estate in Metropolitan Washington Conference

George Washington’s Center for Real Estate and Urban Analysis, housed in the School of Business, will host the “Future of Real Estate in Metropolitan Washington” conference. The conference will focus on walkable urban places and their role in economic development in the Washington, D.C., region. Christopher B. Leinberger, Charles Bendit Distinguished Scholar and Research Professor of Urban Real Estate, and president of LOCUS: Responsible Real Estate Developers and Investors, will discuss new research completed this year. The study, “Walk this Way” defines walkable urban places and establishes metrics to gauge walkable urban places’ performance that could guide investment decisions and public policy development. In addition to highlighting the study, the conference will also explore the management and public policy elements of walkable urban development. Discussion about case studies of three existing and emerging walkable urban places including Clarendon, Va., White Flint, Md., and the Capitol Riverfront in the District, will also take place.
