Face the Facts USA Presents “Election 2012 and America’s Fiscal Cliff”

On the eve of the first presidential debate, George Washington's School of Media and Public Affairs will host a discussion with former Sen. Alan Simpson and budget expert Jared Bernstein regarding debt, deficit and the dangers of hyper-partisanship. The conversation, moderated by SMPA Director Frank Sesno, will focus on whether the presidential candidates are offering credible solutions and if the media is helping the process, or intentionally fanning the flames. Former  Sen. Simpson (R-Wyo.) was the co-chair of the 2010 National Commission of Fiscal Responsibility and Reform and is a current member on the Board of Directors for the Commission on Presidential Debates. Mr. Bernstein is a senior fellow at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities and former chief economist and economic advisor to Vice President Joseph Biden.
