No. 22 GW’s first A-10 regular season crown since 2008 and the program’s 14th overall means the Colonials (26-3, 15-1 A-10) receive a bye into the quarterfinals of the A-10 tournament, which opens Thursday at the Richmond Coliseum. GW will play the winner of an opening-round contest between Virginia Commonwealth University and Saint Louis University on Friday at 11 a.m. The game will be televised nationally by American Sports Network.

Powered by the nation’s best rebounding margin, the Colonials finished the regular season 15-1 in conference play and 14-1 at the Charles E. Smith Center. GW’s 26-3 overall record matches the 2006-07 Colonials for the best 29-game record in program history.

Sophomore guard Hannah Schaible paced the Colonials with a career-high 18 points and added five rebounds and three steals in GW’s clinching win over George Mason. Sophomore forward Caira Washington scored 15 points, connecting on 6-of-7 shots from the floor. Junior forward and conference player of the year candidate Jonquel Jones added 13 points and a game-best nine rebounds and five blocked shots.
