2015 NEA National Heritage Fellowships Concert

The 2015 NEA National Heritage Fellows were honored Friday at George Washington University's Lisner Auditorium in Washington, D.C. The even was emceed by Marco Werman, host of Public Radio International and BBC’s The World.

The concert celebrated this year's recipients of the nation's highest honor in the folk and traditional arts: oud player & composer Rahim AlHaj; Yiddish musician and tradition bearer Michael Alpert; quilters of Gee's Bend Mary Lee Bendolph, Lucy Mingo and Loretta Pettway; circus aerialist Dolly Jacobs; Cambodian ceramicist Yary Livan; ethnomusicologist/folklorist Daniel Sheehy; blues artist Drink Small; Japanese classical dancer Gertrude Yukie Tsutsumi; and Slovak straw artist/egg decorator Sidonka Wadina. - Text originally published on the NEA Website.
